The ROFT Photography Conservation Blog

The Conservation Blog is aimed at creating an awareness of and appreciation for the environment and wildlife that are photographed, and provides information on various species and conservation topics. Acknowledging the magnificent creatures and stunning natural environments that are so evidently displayed.

Meerkats at Rietvlei Nature Reserve

Meerkats to large Elephants all make beautiful photo opportunities.

Wildlife photography brings the photographer close to nature and engenders an interest in- and appreciation for nature conservation.

Great efforts are made throughout the world to preserve endangered species and other protected wildlife in beautiful nature reserves where these animals can be photographed and experiences shared. These experiences allow us to learn more about the species and their associated habitats, thus creating a greater awareness of the natural world and the importance thereof.

However, the photos' themselves do not reveal all the information that one often would like to know, out of interest, of a specific organism, species, or it's environment. Here we seek to provide people with more insight on what they are looking at, and the various encounters between organisms and their environments.

But knowing more about these creatures, what their importance is, and why they need to be protected is the main purpose of this blog.

Whilst we will provide interesting facts about the animals, visitors are encouraged to comment and provide their own insights from their own experiences and knowledge.

Sean Jones is a qualified Nature Conservationist and will provide information from research as well as personal experiences. We aim to provide articles on the website/blog that capture experiences and also give detailed information on conservation topics and animal species that have been photographed. These articles will seek to provide insight on conservation and wildlife to the reader, whilst also creating an urge to self-indulge in such natural experiences. Be on the look out for our next eye-catching article, who knows you might learn something new!
